12 . 21 . 12

July 24, 2008

Before I get into this post, let me apologize beforehand for the torrent of links I am about to unleash unmercifully upon your head. Because I know nothing of this subject, I am obliged to refer to more knowledgable and eloquent sources.

Now to the story at hand. I have been hearing little rumors lately about the significance of the date December 21, 2012 (12/21/12). Some believe this will be the Doomsday of the Earth and we are all going to die.

In the words of MacGruber, “Not so bad.”

UNESCO has unveiled the “eight new natural wonders of the world.” Here they are in no particular order:

1) Joggins Fossil Cliffs, Nova Scotia Canada

That funny-looking rock is actually an old fossilized tree.

2) Mount Sanqingshan National Park, China

The Ugliest Yard!

July 3, 2008

Some friends of mine are needing some help after their backyard was ravaged due to some underground plumbing that needed replacing. They entered an “ugly yard” contest and are one of four finalists nationwide!

All this requires of you is to click on the link below. Vote for “Allison of Indianapolis” for ugliest yard. I believe the contest is ongoing for the next couple weeks; and you can only vote once per day.

Thanks for your help!

The Ugliest Yard.

*UPDATE*: Allie and Jon won the contest! Awesome. Thanks to all who chipped in.

Now there’s a headline you don’t just pass up lightly.

Apparently, this August scientists in Switzerland are set to turn on what has been deemed ‘the largest science experiment in history.’ Some fear this may create such phenomena as elusive ‘dark energy’, extra dimensions in space, freakish little ‘killer particles’ or a black hole that could swallow the Earth. Obviously I know nothing about any of this. It is a very intriguing read nonetheless.

Full story here.

I stumbled on this unbelievable story today on aol.com. As a man was crossing the street in Hartford, Connecticut he was hit by a vehicle and left lying in the street. For a good minute no one did anything to help him but just ignored him and left him lying there.

Unbelievable.

Anyway, I warn you the video may be a little disturbing to watch; but if you want, you can see it here.
