Planet Earth

October 23, 2008

I must apologize for the recent paucity of blog posts here. School has consumed my life for the time being.

Lately, my brother has been telling me about the BBC’s highly acclaimed show Planet Earth. The eleven-part series aired on the Discovery Channel a while back. Last night I watched a portion of the “Caves” episode and I was completely blown away. The cinematography is unlike anything I have ever seen on a TV show. The cameras capture the most unique and stunning angles; and the music is incredible.

It is a work of art.

As a sidenote for discussion, have you ever wondered what is meant exactly by the phrase “a new heaven and a new earth”? I almost like to think that the Paradise which we are meant to enjoy in the fullness of time is not some place we have never been, but the very earth on which we live today–redeemed, renewed, refashioned as it was meant to be from the beginning.

In the words of Pippen, “that doesn’t sound so bad.”

Last year, one of the guys in my dorm got these on his Netflix. I remember watching the “behind the scenes” footage from one of the caves episodes – lots and lots of bat pooh. But really, it was an amazing series. Glory to God for all things! Hope your studies are going well.

bat poo…is high in methane gases I believe.

we just watched the fresh water episode tonight. Wow…those are some awesome waterfalls. Sigh. I am jealous of your temporarily-high-jacked mega flatscreen.
